Zamfara Police Investigating Unlawful Killing of Magaji Lawali – CP |
The Zamfara State police command is currently addressing the case of Magaji Lawali, who was allegedly killed by suspected members of the Community Protection Guard (CPG) in Zamfara State.
According to the Commissioner of Police, the CPG members claimed that their commander, Col. Rabiu Yandoto, was involved in the killing.
"The CPG members reported that Col. Yandoto contacted them, inquiring if they had detained Magaji Lawali. Upon confirmation, Col. Yandoto arrived at the scene, took the keys to the cell where Magaji was held, and later emerged to announce that he had completed his task. After Col. Yandoto left, the CPG members found Magaji's lifeless body," the Commissioner stated.
The Commissioner emphasized that the former State Commandant of the CPG has been arrested and is under investigation.
He also clarified that the case is not politically motivated but is strictly a murder investigation, which will be thoroughly pursued and prosecuted.
It is worth noting that Lawali was alleged to have been killed by the operatives of the CPG.
