Wizkid Asked to Be Featured in My Song' – Asake |
Nigerian singer Ololade Ahmed, popularly known as Asake, has revealed that his colleague Wizkid reached out to him to be featured in his song 'MMS'.
Asake explained that he initially had someone else in mind for the collaboration, but producer P. Prime played the song for Wizkid, who then expressed his interest in being part of it.
During a recent interactive session with fans on Instagram, Asake shared, "I didn't plan to have Wizkid on that song, to be honest. I had someone else in mind, but P. Prime played the song for Wiz, and he said, 'I love this song, I want to be on it.'"
'MMS' was released on Friday as part of Asake's third studio album, 'Lungu Boy'.
The song set a new record for the biggest first-day streams on Spotify Nigeria, with 870,000 streams, surpassing the previous record held by 'IDK' by Wizkid featuring Zlatan Ibile, which had 626,000 streams.
Additionally, Asake's 'Lungu Boy' album broke the record for the biggest first-day streams for an African album on Spotify, amassing 9.42 million streams on the Global Spotify Chart on its first day.
