WAEC to Release May/June 2024 WASSCE Results Today |
The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has announced that the results of the May/June 2024 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) will be released today.
A total of 1,814,344 candidates from 22,229 secondary schools across the nation participated in the examination.
Mrs. Moyosola Adesina, WAEC's Acting Head of Public Affairs, stated that Dr. Amos Dangut, the Head of National Office (HNO), will officially announce the release of the results at WAEC's Yaba headquarters today. In April 2024, Dr. Dangut noted that out of the 1.8 million students, 902,328 (49.73%) were males and 912,016 (50.27%) were females.
The candidates were examined in 76 subjects, comprising 197 papers, with 30,000 secondary school teachers supervising the examination. The release of the 2024 WASSCE results is expected to enhance the prospects of candidates who applied for admission in the 2023/2024 academic session into universities, polytechnics, and colleges of education.
Many candidates who took the 2024 examination did so while awaiting their results. Additionally, some institutions, including private ones, have already begun the admission process with scheduled dates for the Post-UTME screening/tests.
Dr. Dangut mentioned, “In line with our recent tradition, the results of candidates sitting the examination will be released 45 days after the conduct of the last paper, while certificates will be printed and issued to schools in less than 90 days after the release of results.” He also added that the results will be released along with digital copies of candidates’ certificates, which can be accessed on the digital certificate platform.
