Rain and Windstorm Devastate 58 Nomadic Schools in Jigawa |
Heavy rains and windstorms have wreaked havoc on at least 58 nomadic schools in Jigawa State.
In an interview with journalists in Dutse, the Executive Secretary of Nomadic Education, Hajia Ramatu Muhammed, revealed the extent of the damage.
She explained that the severe weather conditions, characterized by heavy rainfall and strong winds, caused significant destruction in many of the affected areas, disrupting teaching and learning activities.
The agency’s Director of Works, Alh. Garba Hamza, stated that the Jigawa State government plans to allocate N392.8 million to restore the nomadic schools to full functionality.
He also urged the state government to increase the agency's annual budgetary allocation to enable proactive measures and swift responses to such disasters in the future.
