A nine-year-old girl, Rumaisa Sadiq, has tragically lost her life after allegedly being raped by a chemist in Jaba, Fanisau Unogo Local Government Area of Kano State. The young victim was taken to the chemist for malaria treatment, a common but risky practice in Nigeria.
Kano State Commissioner for Women Affairs, Disabled and Children, Hajia Aisha Saji, has vowed to pursue justice for Rumaisa and her family. Despite attempts to derail the case, the commissioner assured the public that the state government is committed to bringing the perpetrator to book.
"This heinous act is a stark reminder of the dangers our children face," said Commissioner Saji during a condolence visit to the victim's family. "We will not rest until justice is served. This case must serve as a deterrent to others who would harm our innocent children."
Governor Abba Yusuf has pledged the state government's full support in the matter, ensuring a thorough investigation and prosecution of the accused.
