EPL: Ten Hag Confident in Rashford's Goal-Scoring Potential Despite Missed Opportunities

Manchester United manager, Erik ten Hag, has refrained from blaming Marcus Rashford for the Red Devils’ defeat to Manchester City in the Community Shield on Saturday.

Instead, the Dutchman praised the England forward for consistently positioning himself to score.

Manchester United lost 7-6 on penalties at Wembley.

Rashford missed two key chances to put the Red Devils ahead, one in each half.

Alejandro Garnacho came off the bench to make it 1-0 for United in the 82nd minute, but Bernardo Silva equalized seven minutes later.

The match went to penalties, where Jonny Evans missed the decisive spot-kick, allowing Pep Guardiola’s side to start the season with the Shield in their trophy cabinet.

Speaking to the press after the game, Ten Hag said, “I think he was in very good positions several times. I’m very pleased he is getting into those positions.

“Keep going, keep making those movements, and the team will support him. He will score goals.

“He’s experienced enough to handle this, and once he scores one, the goals will follow.”
