In the midst of the ongoing controversy surrounding the Kano Emirate dispute, the 15th Emir of Kano, Aminu Ado Bayero, embarked on his first trip outside Kano to Abuja on Friday.
It is worth noting that Bayero was dethroned by Governor Abba Yusuf while he was away from the state and the palace. He was replaced by the reinstated 16th Emir, Muhammadu Sanusi II, who was promptly moved to the Kofar Kudu palace.
Bayero's journey comes approximately three months after his return to the state and his residence at the Nassarawa mini palace.
Sources within the Emirate indicated that Bayero's departure was for a private visit, although some suggested it was an official trip to attend a traditional leaders' meeting in Abuja.
Bayero was reportedly escorted in a convoy to the Malam Aminu Kano International Airport (MAKIA), from where he departed for Abuja.
A significant security presence remains on standby around the Nassarawa mini palace, where Bayero resides.
Meanwhile, the 16th Emir, Sanusi II, has also traveled abroad to defend his PhD thesis, leaving Kano without a sitting Emir.
Additionally, the Emirship dispute is currently being addressed in court to resolve the ongoing conflict.
