Tinubu to Inaugurate Sokoto-Badagry Super Highway in August |
The Minister of Works, Engineer Nweze David Umahi, announced that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will inaugurate the first phase of the 1000km Sokoto-Badagry super highway project in Kebbi State this August.
During a stakeholders' meeting on the alignment for the first and second phases of the highway in Sokoto and Kebbi states, held at the Presidential Lodge in Birnin Kebbi, Umahi stated that construction would begin with the 258km section in the Kebbi axis.
The minister highlighted that the highway's route follows the oldest trans-Sahara trade path, which was proposed over 48 years ago but only now being realized under President Tinubu's administration.
At the same event, the Minister of Budget and Economic Planning, Senator Atiku Bagudu, emphasized the need for public support and understanding of the government's new economic policies to achieve its developmental goals.
Governor Nasiru Idris expressed his gratitude, noting that the highway project has brought joy to the people of Kebbi and stands as a testament to the president's commitment to the aspirations of Nigerians.
