Stop Posting Camp Activities on Social Media, NYSC DG Warns Corps Members |
Brigadier General Yushau Ahmed, the Director-General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), has issued a stern warning to corps members against posting camp activities on social media. He emphasized that sharing such content violates the scheme’s standing rules and policies.
During his visit to the NYSC Orientation Camp in Ede, Osun, on Friday, Ahmed advised corps members nationwide to uphold good character and discipline throughout the three-week orientation exercise. He encouraged them to focus on and take full advantage of the skills acquisition program offered in camp.
Ahmed highlighted that the skills and knowledge gained from this program would help corps members become self-reliant and better individuals after their service year. “The skill acquisition is aimed at making you independent so you don’t have to rely on white-collar jobs. We are collaborating with stakeholders to provide you with grants. Please take this seriously,” he said.
He reassured corps members of their safety and security, stating, “Camp officials will never post you to unsafe locations. You are important to us. Protect yourself from any danger and stay vigilant. Also, take precautionary measures to ensure your safety.”
Ahmed also advised corps members to maintain high hygiene standards in camp to avoid diseases, particularly cholera. He urged them to be good ambassadors wherever they are posted across the country.
The NYSC state coordinator in Osun, Mr. Agbor Obim, expressed gratitude to the Director-General for his visit and the care he has shown for the corps members.
