Spain Clinches Record 4th European Title, Heartbreak for England

Spain has secured a historic fourth title in the European Championship by defeating England 2-1 in the final held in Berlin on Sunday.

Mikel Oyarzabal netted the decisive goal in the 86th minute, earning Spain their fourth continental crown. The Spaniards, who previously triumphed in 1964, 2008, and 2012, have now surpassed Germany for the most titles in the tournament's history.

The match, which came alive in the second half, seemed destined for extra time after England's substitute Cole Palmer equalized Nico Williams' opening goal for Spain.

However, it was another substitute, Oyarzabal, who made the difference. The Real Sociedad forward was perfectly positioned to convert a precise cross from Marc Cucurella, slotting the ball past Jordan Pickford and securing Spain's first major trophy since their golden era ended in 2012.

This victory not only broke the tie with Germany for the most Euro titles but also marked the emergence of a new generation of Spanish talent, led by 22-year-old Nico Williams and 17-year-old Lamine Yamal. Yamal became the youngest player to ever feature in a World Cup or European Championship final, breaking the record set by Brazilian legend Pelé in 1958.

Spain's dominance was unquestionable, as they won all seven of their matches in the tournament and became the first team in European Championship history to score 15 goals in a single edition, surpassing France's record from 1984.

For England, the defeat was a bitter pill to swallow, marking their second consecutive loss in a European Championship final and extending their 58-year wait for a major trophy.
