| Police Rescue Kidnapped Farmer in Edo |
The Edo State Police Command has successfully rescued two kidnapped individuals.
According to DAILY POST, the victims were freed by operatives from the Irrua Divisional Headquarters in Esan Central Local Government Area, specifically in the Ugbegun and Usugbenu forests.
Commissioner of Police Funsho Adegboye, who shared this information with journalists in Benin City, identified the rescued individuals as Osemuanhu Iluobe and 47-year-old Emmanuel Ehizuenlen Oziegbe.
Commissioner Adegboye explained that Osemuanhu Iluobe, a farmer, was abducted along with another individual named Emuanta from their farm in Ugbegun Forest. While Iluobe was rescued, Emuanta remains in captivity.
Upon receiving reports of the abduction, the Irrua Division mobilized and conducted extensive bush combing operations, which led to Iluobe's rescue. Efforts are ongoing to free the remaining victims and apprehend the suspects.
Adegboye also reported the rescue of Emmanuel Ehizuenlen Oziegbe by police operatives, who worked in collaboration with a vigilante group and local hunters. Oziegbe was found unharmed, and the chain and padlock used to restrain him were recovered.
The Commissioner assured that efforts are continuing to capture the fleeing suspects.
