Lagos to Implement Parking Charges for Vehicles Outside Religious Premises |
The Lagos State government has announced the introduction of an on-street parking scheme, which will commence in October.
This initiative will impose hourly fees for vehicles parked on specified streets.
A notice from the Lagos State Parking Authority (LASPA), dated July 19 and signed by Head of Operations Ayokunle Akinrimisi, was sent to the chairman of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN) branch.
The notice also indicated that actions will be taken against vehicles parked indiscriminately.
The notice stated, “I am directed to inform your esteemed organization that the Lagos State Parking Authority (LASPA) will be initiating its on-street parking scheme on designated streets within the Lagos State metropolis.”
It further mentioned, “Vehicles parked on designated streets by the church and its members will incur hourly charges, and indiscriminately parked vehicles will be dealt with accordingly.”
LASPA stressed that adherence to the directive is expected from law-abiding organizations.
However, the notice did not disclose the specific fees to be charged.
