Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State reaffirmed his administration’s dedication to upholding the rule of law by reinstating Chief Jonathan Zamuna as the Chief of Piriga in Lere Local Government Area.

Governor Sani made this announcement during a meeting with the Kaduna State Council of Chiefs on Thursday.

He highlighted the crucial role of traditional rulers, emphasizing their close connection to the people.

“Traditional institutions remain a stabilizing force in our communities and our state as a whole,” Sani stated.

Governor Sani stressed his administration’s respect for the law, committing to abide by the court’s judgment on June 10, 2024, which ordered the reinstatement of the traditional ruler.

He expressed that his administration holds traditional institutions in high regard and will continue to involve them in key decision-making processes in the state.

Governor Sani also reaffirmed his commitment to addressing insecurity in the state by establishing military formations across border areas.

“We will continue to collaborate with all security agencies in the state to tackle security challenges,” he said.

He assured that the government’s doors are always open for discussions on related issues for the state’s progress.

“I understand that security issues have impacted our various Chiefdoms. I assure you that I am not relenting in my efforts, and we remain focused on improving the security situation across the state,” he added.

The governor noted significant progress in setting up a brigade in Kaduna South and increasing military presence in border areas such as Birnin Gwari, Giwa, Igabi, Kajuru, Kachia, and Kagarko LGAs.

In his remarks, the Chairman of the council, Emir of Zazzau, Ahmad Bamali, thanked the state government for its support.

He acknowledged the government’s efforts in addressing the prevailing security challenges, particularly banditry.

The emir assured the council’s continued support to ensure the administration’s success and security in the state.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the National Industrial Court sitting in Kaduna recently nullified the dethronement of Zamuna.

The court ordered his reinstatement, the payment of all his salaries and privileges, and N10 million in damages for the breach of his fundamental rights, with an order to comply with the judgment within 30 days. (NAN)
