Kaduna APC Stakeholders Shift Support from el-Rufai to Sani

In the midst of the ongoing political tussle between former Governor Mallam Nasir el-Rufai and his successor, Senator Uba Sani, the All Progressives Congress (APC) stakeholders in Kaduna State have declared their support for the current governor.

The strained relationship between Sani and el-Rufai has led to a recent investigation of the el-Rufai administration by the Kaduna State House of Assembly.

The Kaduna APC stakeholders expressed their stance during the Kaduna State APC Executive Committee meeting held at the Umaru Musa Yar’adua Hall, Murtala Muhammad Square, Kaduna. During the meeting, party leaders passed a vote of confidence in Governor Sani.

The meeting was attended by notable figures including the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Abbas Tajudeen, Kaduna State APC Chairman Air Commodore Emmanuel Jekada (rtd), former Governor Ramalan Yero, and several APC House of Representatives members from Kaduna State, including Hon. Muktar Chawai, Hon. Bashir Zubairu, Hon. Ahmed Mannir, and Hon. Bello El-Rufai. The Speaker of the Kaduna State House of Assembly, Hon. Yusuf Liman Dahiru, along with all APC members in the State House of Assembly, were also present.

In a statement issued yesterday, the Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to the Speaker, Musa Krishi, noted that the APC Deputy Vice Chairman for the North West, Hon. Datti Garba Muhammad, moved a motion for a vote of confidence in Sani, which was seconded by former House of Representatives member Hon. Yakubu Barde. The motion was unanimously endorsed by the Kaduna APC leaders at the meeting.

Abbas expressed optimism about the future of the APC in Kaduna, citing the unity among the state's party members. He assured party members that there would be no rift between him and Sani throughout the governor's tenure.

Reiterating his commitment, Abbas stated that he would continue to support Sani through all challenges, emphasizing the strength of their relationship. He urged the governor to maintain their good relationship, which he believes will bring more development and stability to Kaduna State.

Congratulating Sani on his successful first year in office, Abbas praised the governor for his efforts in uniting all ethnic and religious groups in the state.

Addressing the ongoing constitutional amendment by the National Assembly, Abbas called on the people of Kaduna State and the six other North Western states to review the constitution and identify areas for amendment. He mentioned that a platform would be provided for public input in the lead-up to the final process.

Governor Sani, in turn, commended the Speaker for his achievements in his first year in office, noting the complexity of leading the House of Representatives. He assured APC members in the state that his administration, in collaboration with Abbas, would strive to include every party member in their efforts.
