Israeli Army Urges All Residents to Evacuate Gaza City |
The Israeli army has urged all residents of Gaza City to evacuate, signaling potential new military operations.
A military spokesperson issued the appeal in Arabic, advising residents to move from the northern part of the Gaza Strip to the towns of Deir Al-Balah and Al-Zawiya in the center of the territory.
The spokesperson also outlined safe routes for evacuation, cautioning that Gaza City is now a dangerous combat zone.
Israeli media reported that leaflets were distributed in the city earlier in the day, urging people to leave.
In recent weeks, the military has called on residents of several neighborhoods to evacuate.
Heavy fighting has since occurred in some of these areas, including Shejaiya.
The latest evacuation call applies to the entire city.
Israeli troops conducted combat operations in Gaza City at the start of the war in October 2023.
Since then, fighters from the Palestinian militant group Hamas have been attempting to regroup in Gaza City and other parts of the coastal strip.
Gaza City has been one of the hardest-hit areas in recent months.
