France captain Kylian Mbappe has expressed his determination to defeat Portugal in their Euro 2024 quarter-final match on Friday, despite his deep admiration for Cristiano Ronaldo.
Mbappe revealed that he regularly communicates with the "unique" Ronaldo ahead of the game.
“It’s truly an honor; everyone knows the respect I have for him. He remains a legend, and we stay in touch, but I hope we can win tomorrow.
“We must appreciate who he is and what he has achieved — he is a unique player. His career speaks for itself,” Mbappe said during a press conference.
So far, Mbappe and France have not scored from open play in four games, relying on a penalty and own goals to reach this stage.
