Euro 2024: Kimmich Criticizes Referee’s Decision Not to Award Germany a Penalty

Germany's midfielder, Joshua Kimmich, expressed his frustration over referee Anthony Taylor's decision not to award a penalty during their 2-1 loss to Spain in the Euro 2024 quarterfinals on Friday.

Kimmich argued that Germany deserved a penalty.

Despite UEFA’s rules providing a reasonable explanation for the decision, Kimmich remained adamant about the missed call.

Speaking to the media after the match, Kimmich stated, “It was very unfair. We dominated the second half and extra time. The Spaniards were just trying to hold on for the penalty shootout.

“We had two excellent chances after conceding the goal and should have been awarded a penalty for a handball,” he added.
