Former Manchester United captain Gary Neville has stated that England did not deserve to win the Euro 2024 final.
The Three Lions were defeated 2-1 by Spain in Berlin on Sunday.
This marks the second consecutive final loss for Gareth Southgate’s team in the tournament.
Speaking on ITV, Neville acknowledged that Spain was the superior team.
He said: “The most impressive thing about Spain tonight was that just when you thought the momentum was with England and the floodgates might open, they responded brilliantly, regained control of the game, and secured the winner.
“They were the best team in the tournament and the best team tonight. It’s incredibly painful for England fans as it feels like a never-ending story where we just can’t get over the line.
“We didn’t deserve to win tonight or in the tournament because we didn’t play to our full potential, and Spain has been very good. In the end, our performance just wasn’t enough.”
