Social critic Aisha Yesufu has criticized former President Goodluck Jonathan for granting excessive waivers to Aliko Dangote and other wealthy individuals during his tenure.
Yesufu claimed that these actions led to the destruction of many small businesses.
Her comments come amid reports of a strained relationship between Dangote and the regulators of Nigeria’s oil industry.
Recently, the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority stated that the Dangote refinery has not been licensed to commence operations in the country.
In a post on her X handle on Monday, Yesufu also alleged that there was significant money laundering through predatory pricing, which harmed numerous businesses.
She stated, “We tend to forget and romanticize the past. GEJ gave Dangote and others so many waivers, which destroyed small businesses. There was also a lot of money laundering through predatory pricing that took many businesses down.”
