| 2027: Release Nnamdi Kanu and Offer Him a Contract to Gain More Votes – Fayose Advises Tinubu |
Isaac Fayose, the younger brother of former Ekiti State governor Ayodele Fayose, has urged President Bola Tinubu to release Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), and offer him contracts similar to those given by ex-President Goodluck Jonathan to Niger Delta militant leader Tompolo.
Fayose believes that releasing Kanu would help Tinubu secure more votes from the Southeast in the 2027 elections.
In a video posted on his Instagram account, Fayose argued that Kanu's release would significantly reduce insecurity in the Southeast.
He stated, “Releasing Nnamdi Kanu will cut crime in the Southeast by 50%. Additionally, the APC will gain more votes in 2027.
“If President Goodluck Jonathan could give a contract to Tompolo to ensure peace in the Niger Delta, why can't we implement a similar strategy in the Southeast?”
Fayose further suggested that the funds currently spent on security in the Southeast could be halved by releasing Kanu.
His call comes amid appeals from the 2023 Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, and other Nigerians for Tinubu to release Kanu. Fayose added, “If I were President Tinubu, after noticing the lack of support from the Southeast in the election, I would have released Kanu to win them over. Releasing Kanu could make some people think, ‘This man has good intentions.’”
