| Tinubu Names Tunji Bello as Head of Consumer Protection Commission |
President Bola Tinubu has confirmed the nomination of Mr. Olatunji Bello as the incoming Chief Executive Officer/Executive Vice-Chairman of the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC).
The President's Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale, announced in a statement that Mr. Bello's appointment awaits Senate confirmation.
An accomplished lawyer, administrator, and journalist, Mr. Bello previously served as the secretary to the Lagos State Government and earned a Master’s degree in International Law and Diplomacy from the University of Lagos, where he also completed his Law studies and was admitted to the Nigerian Bar in 2002.
The statement further expressed the President's expectation that Mr. Bello, as the new CEO, will fully realize the Commission's goals of safeguarding and advancing the interests and well-being of Nigerian consumers, as well as ensuring the safety and quality of goods and services.
Mr. Bello's journalism career began at Concord Newspapers in 1985, where he rose to the roles of Group Political Editor, Sunday Concord Editor, and Editor of National Concord. He has also held the position of Commissioner for Environment in Lagos State across different administrations.
