President Bola Tinubu has dedicated the M18 road in Abuja's Guzape district to the memory of Chinua Achebe by naming it the Chinua Achebe Expressway.
Olusegun Dada, the President's Special Assistant on Social Media, announced that the president had inaugurated the expressway on Saturday and subsequently named it in honor of the late distinguished novelist.
"President Bola Ahmed Tinubu inaugurates the M18 road infrastructure in the Guzape District of Abuja. Dedicates the road to Nigerian Novelist and Poet, the late Professor Chinua Achebe," he stated.
Remember that Achebe was a Nigerian novelist, poet, and critic, considered a pioneer of modern African literature.
He passed away in 2013, aged 83.
Earlier on Tuesday, President Tinubu named the newly opened arterial road N20, connecting the northern parkway with the outer northern expressway (ONEX) in the capital, after Wole Soyinka, the esteemed playwright.
Bayo Onanuga, the President's Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, mentioned that the FCT administration had suggested naming the road after Soyinka.
Soyinka holds the distinction of being the first African laureate of the Nobel Prize in literature.
In May, the FCT minister, Nyesom Wike, honored Tinubu by naming the southern parkway in Abuja after him.
This southern parkway, extending from the National Christian Centre to ring road one, is a key artery of the city.
