Manchester United icon, Rio Ferdinand, has overlooked former Ballon d’Or recipients Ronaldo Nazario and Karim Benzema in naming the most challenging player he’s ever encountered.
Speaking with GOAL recently, Ferdinand was prompted to select between Ronaldo and Arsenal great Thierry Henry.
The ex-England centre-back recalled the 2002-03 clash where the Brazilian notched a notable hat-trick at Old Trafford.
Nevertheless, Ferdinand chose Arsenal’s Dennis Bergkamp over Ronaldo.
He also passed over Ballon d’Or laureates Karim Benzema and Cristiano Ronaldo, opting instead for Bergkamp.
In the end, Ferdinand affirmed that Real Madrid’s Raul was “one of the toughest” adversaries he’s competed against, surpassing all others on his list of formidable rivals.
