The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) police command showcased a Point of Sale (PoS) operator, Sunday Musa, also known as Dan Gwari, accused of providing sex workers to bandits in their hideouts and funneling money to their families in Kagarko Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
Commissioner of Police in the FCT, Benneth Igweh, revealed this information during the suspect's parade at the command headquarters in Abuja on Tuesday. He stated that the arrest was part of a targeted clearance operation by the anti-kidnap unit at Kagarko.
Igweh mentioned that the suspect is believed to be the primary informant and logistics provider for bandit groups led by an individual named Ardo, who is currently evading capture.
The suspect admitted to arranging the transport of nurses, illicit drugs, and sex workers upon the bandit groups' requests.
"The suspect has admitted to acting as a financial messenger, distributing over N20 million to the bandits' families," CP Igweh disclosed.
He also confirmed that the bandits, commanded by Ardo, consist of more than 15 armed members. Additionally, Igweh announced the arrest of a 41-year-old housewife, Ruqquaya Ibrahim, suspected of delivering provisions and other supplies to the bandits.
Ibrahim, a resident of Sabon-Wuse, Niger State, reportedly confessed to providing supplies to a faction led by Shumau, who is also fleeing from the law.
The police commissioner stated that Ibrahim was apprehended in Gidan-Dogo forest en route to deliver goods to the bandits and subsequently guided the police to Shumau’s residence, where they retrieved 14 stolen cows.
