Olise: Thierry Henry Confirms Winger's Preference for France Over England

Thierry Henry, the ex-Arsenal skipper, has disclosed that Crystal Palace's Michael Olise has chosen France over England for his international career.

Gareth Southgate, the England manager, acknowledged last month that the Football Association was keeping tabs on the 22-year-old player.

This came after Didier Deschamps decided not to include Olise in his Euro 2024 team.

Olise, born in Hammersmith to a Nigerian father and a French-Algerian mother, is qualified to play for all four nations.

However, Henry asserts that Olise's preference is to represent France.

Henry remarked: “It's clear he has numerous options, yet his choice is France. It's important to recognize his eagerness to be part of the French squad.

"Had he been English, he might have already opted to play for England. He had the alternative to join the England squad for the Euros, just like his Crystal Palace colleague Eberechi Eze, but his desire is to play for France, even though it meant missing out on the Euros.”
