Kaduna: PDP Calls on Gov Sani for Immediate Council Elections

The Peoples Democratic Party's Kaduna State branch has urged Governor Uba Sani to promptly set a date for the upcoming council elections.

The party stressed that the appointment of interim committee chairpersons to manage the councils does not align with the constitution of Nigeria.

The PDP State chairman, Felix Hassan Hyat, stated, "We are fully prepared for the local government elections, and the constitution does not accommodate caretaker committees."

He urged the APC-led government to establish and publicize an election schedule.

Moreover, the PDP insisted that the state's electoral commission, KADSIECOM, should assert its autonomy from the dominant All Progressives Congress, APC, during the council elections in all 23 local government areas.

Hyat declared, "Should the governing party win fairly, we will accept defeat. Conversely, if we triumph fairly, they must also accept the outcome. The era of electoral manipulation has ended."
