President Bola Tinubu has reaffirmed his commitment to not disappoint Nigerians.
In a nationwide broadcast on Wednesday, marking Nigeria’s 25th democracy anniversary, President Tinubu assured citizens of his unwavering support.
He called on Nigerians to bear the brunt of economic reforms, which he deemed necessary for establishing a robust economic base.
“I will remain attentive to the populace as we advance our economic reforms, and I will not abandon you,” he declared.
Discussing recent discussions with organized labor regarding a new national minimum wage, President Tinubu stated that the government has negotiated sincerely and will soon introduce a legislative proposal to the National Assembly to solidify the agreed salary for up to five years.
He highlighted the significance of both political and economic democracy, encouraging the nation to persist in its pursuit of a brighter future.
President Tinubu recognized the nation's economic challenges and the imperative for modifications to lay the groundwork for future prosperity.
“Our national greatness hinges not on the path of least resistance but on the correct path.
Echoing the sentiments of former American President Franklin Roosevelt, he said: “Progress is marked by myriad paths, but stagnation has only one!
We must not yield to inertia, for it risks the loss of imminent opportunities. We must not become static amidst the crossroads of hope and despair. We are aware of the right direction, and we are committed to it!
“The dawn of a promising future is now visible. The potential for an abundant tomorrow and the means to achieve it are within our grasp.
“Democracy and its resulting institutions are our vehicles to a significant destination.
“Join me on this journey of progress. Let us collectively propel Nigeria ahead.
“Let us sustain the flame of democracy. Let us ensure its light endures for future generations.”
