Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, has characterized the past five years of his administration as challenging. However, he emphasized that his unwavering faith in God had ultimately led to the victory he desired.
Speaking during his 64th birthday and fifth-year thanksgiving service at the Ogun State Government House Chapel in Abeokuta, Governor Abiodun recalled the hurdles he faced on his journey to power. Despite the odds, he attributed his success to God Almighty and expressed his commitment to reshaping the state's economy.
"The process through which I emerged as Governor was a very unusual one; one in which my predecessor, who was in the same party with me, was fighting me and campaigning for another person in another party. I would sit down and ask myself, 'Baba God, this is very unusual. Why do I have to go through so much to assume this office?' And then I would answer myself that it is because God wants to take that glory.
"The last five years of governance in Ogun State have been one of the most beautiful experiences of my life. It has been extremely turbulent, very challenging, and at times rancorous. But the most important thing is that in all of this, God has given us victory."
Governor Abiodun pledged to continue improving the lives of the state's residents by investing in infrastructure. His vision includes transforming Ogun into an oil-producing state, with the Ministry of Petroleum Resources set to begin oil exploration in the region.
"On Friday, the leadership of the Ministry of Petroleum, led by the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Oil), Senator Heineken Lokpobiri, was here with three others and the chairman of Shell to announce that they would soon begin drilling oil in Ogun State," he stated.
