Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has conveyed his deep sorrow upon learning of the passing of the former Military Governor of Benue, retired Air Vice Marshal Adebayo Lawal.

As reported by DAILY POST, the ex-minister of youth and sports passed away on Sunday. Hailing from Offa, the veteran military officer was 83 years old.

In response to this mournful news, Governor AbdulRazaq, through a statement from his Chief Press Secretary, Rafiu Ajakaye, on Monday in Ilorin, extended his heartfelt condolences to the family of the late officer, the Offa community, and the Nigerian Air Force.

The governor remarked that the demise of the ex-minister marks a significant closure in the annals of Nigeria's military, particularly within the Nigerian Air Force, where he achieved numerous distinctions.

"His enduring legacy in the Nigerian Air Force, his commendable contributions as a community figure and national leader, and the principles he championed will continue to honor his memory," the governor stated.

Governor AbdulRazaq offered prayers for the eternal peace of Lawal's soul and for the well-being of his family.

Born on September 14, 1941, in Offa, Kwara, Lawal embarked on his military career with the Nigerian Air Force in 1963, being among its initial cadre of officers.
