| Euro 2024: Modric Reflects on Football's Harshness After Croatia's Draw with Italy |
Croatia's captain, Luka Modric, has expressed that football can be unforgiving, especially in light of the current Euro 2024 tournament.
Modric shared his thoughts with the media after Croatia's match against Italy ended in a 1-1 draw on Monday.
The midfielder from Real Madrid initially put Croatia ahead, despite his penalty being stopped during the game.
However, Italy's Mattia Zaccagni managed to score in the dying seconds of added time, delivering a late equalizer that shattered Croatian hopes.
This outcome enabled the defending champions, Italy, to advance to the Euro 2024 last 16.
"Football can show its harsh side. I wish to play football indefinitely, but that's not feasible," Modric remarked.
"There will come a time when I must hang up my boots, although the exact moment remains uncertain," he added.
