EPL Update: Chelsea Set to Confirm Pochettino’s Successor on Monday |
Chelsea is on the verge of declaring Enzo Maresca as their next head coach this coming Monday, as per Sky Sports.
Maresca is set to take over Mauricio Pochettino’s role at Stamford Bridge, having finalized a five-year deal.
The 44-year-old is departing from Leicester City after successfully leading them to the Premier League, clinching the Championship title.
Among Chelsea’s preferred choices, Maresca was selected over other candidates such as Brentford’s Thomas Frank, Ipswich’s Kieran McKenna, and Brighton’s Roberto De Zerbi.
It is understood that his buyout clause at Leicester ranged from £8 million to £10 million.
Maresca is expected to transfer six of his staff members from Leicester to Chelsea, including the former Chelsea goalkeeper, Willy Caballero.
