Bandits Assassinate Deputy Vice Chancellor of Usmanu Danfodiyo University |
Bandits have assassinated Professor Yusuf Sa’idu, the Deputy Vice Chancellor of Usman Danfodiyo University, Sokoto.
The tragic incident occurred along Kucheri in Tsafe Local Government Area of Zamfara State on Monday afternoon.
Professor Sa’idu served as the Deputy Vice Chancellor for Research, Innovation, and Development at the university and was a respected Professor of Biochemistry from Niger State.
His colleague, Dr. Bello Arkilla, remembered him as a deeply religious and modest individual.
"I had just visited his office this morning, only to learn that he had traveled," he recounted.
The university announced Professor Saidu's death via a brief statement on its Facebook page on Monday, revealing that the esteemed deputy vice chancellor was ambushed and murdered by terrorists during his journey from Sokoto to Kaduna.
The university's statement mourned, "We announce the demise of Prof. Yusuf Saidu, the incumbent Deputy Vice Chancellor of Research Innovation and Development at Usmanu Danfodiyo University Sokoto. He fell victim to a bandit attack while en route to Kaduna from Sokoto State. He was a man of great integrity, devout faith, unwavering dedication, and bravery. We pray that Allah receives his soul and pardons his sins. His passing is a grievous loss to the entire university community and the academic world at large."
