Tobi Amusan spearheaded Nigeria's triumph in the women’s 4x100m relay at the 2024 African Senior Athletics Championship in Douala, clinching the gold medal on Monday evening.


The Nigerian team, composed of Amusan, Justina Eyakpobeyan, Tima Godbless, and Olayinka Olajide, emerged victorious with a time of 42.76 seconds.


They outpaced their regional competitors, with Liberia securing the silver and Ghana taking home the bronze.


Since 2018, Nigeria has maintained an unbeaten streak in this event at the African Athletics Championship, with Amusan contributing to each victory.


In the men’s 4x100m relay, Nigeria finished with a silver medal, while Ghana took the top spot with the gold.


Nigeria's team, featuring Kanyinsola Ajayi, Usheoritse Itsekiri, Alaba Akintola, and Godson Brume, recorded a time of 38.84 seconds.


Ghana clinched the gold with a time of 38.63 seconds, and Ivory Coast secured the bronze with a time of 39.77 seconds.
