Kelechi Iheanacho has voiced concerns that the delayed arrival of several teammates has impacted the Super Eagles' preparations for the forthcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against South Africa and Benin.
Initially, 15 players participated in training for two days, and they were subsequently joined by five more on Tuesday.
The group of Semi Ajayi, Calvin Bassey, Frank Onyeka, Bright Osayi-Samuel, and Paul Onuachu made it to the camp on Tuesday afternoon.
The team is still anticipating the arrival of three players: Alex Iwobi, Ademola Lookman, and Maduka Okoye.
Iheanacho remarked on the challenges faced by the team in conducting full training sessions due to the late arrivals.
"Clearly, we're not at full strength yet, and the absence of some players has slightly affected our training sessions.
"We've been unable to conduct some of the major sessions because we're not complete," he shared with TVC News.
"This has somewhat disrupted our training, but today we had almost everyone present and managed to conduct a significant session, which is crucial.
"We're hopeful that by tomorrow, everyone will be here so we can utilize the entire pitch for the necessary training.
"In general, we've been diligently training for the past few days, and I believe the coaching staff is doing an excellent job. We're in top shape and eager to compete."
