Governor Dauda Lawal of Zamfara State announced that the implementation of the N30,000 minimum wage for state civil servants is set to begin in June.
This was revealed yesterday at a meeting with the leaders of the Labour Union's Zamfara State branch in Gusau, the state's capital.
According to a press release from the governor's spokesperson, Sulaiman Bala Idris, the commencement of the minimum wage is indicative of the state government's commitment to improving the living standards of its employees.
"Starting this June, the government of Zamfara State will elevate the minimum wage from N7,000 to N30,000," the announcement stated.
Governor Lawal emphasized that the new minimum wage policy is designed to incentivize the workforce in Zamfara.
He also pointed out several measures his government has implemented to boost the welfare of employees, such as settling previously unpaid three months' wages, providing leave allowances, and disbursing additional incentives.
