The Zamfara State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Aisha M.Z. Anka, has officially confirmed an outbreak of an unknown disease in the state. According to a statement issued by the Ministry's spokesperson, Ibrahim Bello Boko, the illness is characterized by abdominal distension, accumulation of fluid in the abdomen, enlarged liver and spleen, fever, and generalized body weakness.

As of now, 177 cases have been detected, and 4 deaths have been reported. The incident has been promptly reported to the **Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC)** and other relevant stakeholders.
The Ministry of Health, led by Dr. Aisha M.Z. Anka, is currently in the emergency response phase, working diligently to identify the causes of the illnesses and contain the condition. Various biological samples from humans, animals, soil, water, and foodstuff have been collected and sent to laboratories in Lagos and Abuja for analysis.
