Many recognize you from The Johnsons. What else should people know about you?

Not many are aware that I'm an avid Arsenal supporter and that I enjoy playing football, which is something only my colleagues know about me.

As an Arsenal fan, how do you feel with Manchester City leading before the final Premier League matches on Sunday?

I'm not disheartened, but it does hurt. It's baffling how Manchester City, like magicians, haven't dropped a single point recently. They're the reigning champions and excel at scoring. It's a reminder that complacency can lead to being overtaken by those trailing you. We must acknowledge City's prowess, but I hold onto the hope that Arsenal will eventually become champions.

Arsenal fans have been saying "one day" for two decades now...

Indeed, after all these years, I still have faith. Arsenal's journey mirrors Nigeria's in some ways; we've long been told things will improve. While Arsenal is currently second, Nigeria has a longer path to success. Arsenal is like a senior colleague to Nigeria. We'll continue to hope until Saka departs, which will signal the end of our aspirations.

Currently, Arsenal has many talented players, but something's amiss. Similar to last season, we lost crucial games towards the end, and history repeated itself this season. It's unlikely Manchester City will lose to West Ham at home. Football is unpredictable, but City is formidable. Surprisingly, it might be Arsenal who loses to Everton. My relationship with Arsenal is akin to a marriage, for better or worse.

Did you expect a favorable outcome from the City vs. Spurs match last Tuesday?

I hoped for a draw, which seemed possible in the first half. However, City's knack for scoring prevailed in the second half. Haaland, or "Hollandia" as I call him, made a significant impact. We still have hope, but if things don't turn out as desired, we'll embrace our second-place standing. Next season, I won't set my expectations on winning the trophy; securing a Champions League spot will suffice. A win would be a delightful surprise.

Spurs' Son Heung-min almost delivered a gift to Arsenal but couldn't score...

That's due to the 'village people' intervening. Arsenal, much like Nigeria, tends to disappoint when expectations are high. I've supported Arsenal since Kanu played for them, and being the only non-Chelsea fan in my family, I endure plenty of teasing. My advice to fellow Arsenal fans is to prepare for second place, but if we win, we'll paint the streets red.

What's your take on Finidi George's appointment as Eagles coach?

We saw potential in the national team during the AFCON in Ivory Coast. Consistency is key, as seen with Mikel Arteta's tenure at Arsenal. Despite a rocky start, he's now among the Premier League's top managers. Chelsea's frequent coaching changes have led to struggles, but their faith in Pochettino suggests a stronger next season. I expect Arsenal to perform well next season, given the team's synergy. Changing coaches disrupts the system, so continuity is preferable.

Do you still enjoy watching the Super Eagles?

Many, including myself, have lost faith in the Eagles. In my youth, Nigeria's losses deeply affected me. Now, I follow the players based on their club performances.

What seems to be the issue?

The current system differs from the past when we knew each player's strengths. Nowadays, players are often selected for financial gain rather than merit. Sports unite us, and we should leverage that for national unity, despite some prioritizing personal profit.

How do you rate our chances for the 2026 World Cup?

My hope in the Eagles has waned, but I respect our players' international achievements. The team lacks proper support for Osimehn. If we had a playmaker like Okocha, he'd score abundantly. I watch the games out of national pride, but the team's inconsistency is disheartening. I wish them the best and hope to see them at the World Cup.

Did you play football growing up?

Yes, I was a dedicated defender until a secondary school injury ended my playing days. I was determined to win at all costs, even risking a red card. In a crucial moment, I sustained a knee injury while preventing a goal, which ultimately halted my football pursuits.
