The Kano State Government has swiftly refuted claims of a stray bullet striking a reporter at the Government House on Friday night.

Naziru Idris Ya’u, a reporter with Abubakar Rimi Television Station (ARTV) and attached to the Kano Government House, found himself in the line of fire when a stray bullet hit him during the evening hours.

While the origin of the stray bullet remains uncertain, the injured reporter was promptly taken to the Government House clinic for medical attention.

This specific area had been cordoned off for safety precautions.

However, Daily Trust on Sunday reports a discrepancy. According to eyewitnesses, the incident occurred near a mosque close to the entrance gate of the Government House, specifically in a unit designated for ablution. Curiously, there is no ongoing construction in the immediate vicinity, as previously asserted.

The actual construction site lies behind the governor’s office, adjacent to the African House within the Government House premises—a considerable distance away from the reported incident.

In response to this unsettling event, Bature reaffirmed the government’s commitment to reviewing and enhancing existing safety protocols. The goal is to prevent similar incidents from occurring in the future.
