Mbappé acknowledged that the outcome was due to squandered opportunities, some of which were his own
Paris Saint-Germain striker, Kylian Mbappé, has accepted responsibility for their Champions League elimination on Tuesday.
Their semi-final matchup against Borussia Dortmund concluded 2-0 on aggregate, following a 1-0 loss at home in the second leg.
Mbappé acknowledged that the outcome was due to squandered opportunities, some of which were his own.
The Ligue 1 title-holders dominated possession with nearly 70% and attempted 30 shots in the second leg, striking the woodwork four times.
“I endeavored to aid my squad to the best of my ability, but it wasn't sufficient.
“When it comes to efficiency in front of goal, I feel I'm the one in the spotlight. I'm the individual expected to net goals and make pivotal contributions.
“When the going is good, I bask in all the glory, and when it's not, I'm ready to face the criticism. That's not an issue.
“I should have been the first to score tonight. Such is life, and we must press forward, both myself and the team,” Mbappé reflected post-match at Parc des Princes.
