Two Female Students Abducted in Benue |
Gunmen have abducted two female students from the Joseph Sarwuan University of Agriculture in Makurdi, Benue State.
The abduction reportedly occurred late Saturday night.
State command spokesperson Catherine Anene confirmed the kidnapping to the press on Wednesday, stating that the incident took place around 11 pm on Saturday.
“The incident was reported to have occurred along the North Bank/Uniagric Road late on Saturday night,” Anene said.
She added that the kidnappers blocked the road and abducted the victims before security forces could respond.
The Public Relations Officer stated that the families and the university have informed the police, and an investigation is underway.
In a related development, Benue police officers neutralized three kidnapping suspects and freed two individuals. These suspects had kidnapped two residents from Ukum Local Government Area, demanding a ransom of N23 million. The abductions happened approximately a week earlier.
Anene revealed that an Operation Zenda team raided the kidnappers’ hideout early Wednesday morning.
