Tragedy Strikes Kano University as Female Student Found Dead in Off-Campus Lodge
A 300-level student of the Food and Science Technology Department at Aliko Dangote University of Science and Technology, Wudil, Kano, Aisha Yahaya, has been found dead in a student lodge outside the school premises. The tragic incident occurred on April 22, 2024, immediately after she completed her first examination during the ongoing first-semester examination.
According to a student who preferred anonymity, Aisha may have succumbed to examination pressure. The Muslim Students' Society of Nigeria (MSSN) and the Students Union Government (SUG) have expressed their condolences to the family and friends of the deceased, praying for her soul to rest in peace and for the family to find strength during this difficult time.
This incident is not the first of its kind in the institution. In 2021, a 22-year-old student was found dead days after being reported missing. The police investigation led to the discovery of his corpse at a sand excavation site in Mariri, on the outskirts of Kano City.
The university management and the state police command have yet to release an official statement or respond to inquiries about the incident. The cause of Aisha's death is still unknown, and the investigation is ongoing.
The tragic loss of Aisha Yahaya has sent shockwaves through the university community, and her memory will be cherished by those who knew her. May she rest in peace.
