President Bola Tinubu has extended his heartfelt condolences to the government and people of Kano State in the wake of the tragic fire incident that claimed lives at a mosque in Larabar Abasawa, located in the Gezawa Local Government Area of the state.


Ajuri Ngelale, the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, issued a statement from Abuja condemning the act and expressing prayers for the swift recovery of those injured during the incident.


According to reports by Daily Trust, a family dispute over an alleged inheritance sharing resulted in the loss of several lives in the Larabar-Albasawa community on the outskirts of Gezawa, the headquarters of Gezawa LGA in Kano State.


The suspect, Shafiu Abubakar, allegedly set fire to the mosque while worshippers were engaged in the early morning prayer around 5:30 am. The mosque area was reportedly sprayed with petroleum, and the door was locked, trapping approximately 40 worshippers inside.
