The incident was disclosed in a statement by former teammate Emmanuel Babayaro, who is the General Secretary of PFAN.
Tijani Babangida, ex-Super Eagles player, was involved in a vehicular accident on Thursday that sadly resulted in the death of his younger brother, Ibrahim Babangida.
Babangida, a member of the Atlanta 1996 Olympic gold medal-winning squad, currently serves as the President of the Professional Footballers Association of Nigeria.
The incident was disclosed in a statement by former teammate Emmanuel Babayaro, who is the General Secretary of PFAN.
"Comrades! We ask for your prayers for our president, Tijani Babangida, who was recently in a severe motor accident on the Kaduna-Zaria Road," stated Babayaro.
"Ibrahim Babangida, his younger brother, passed away at the scene of the accident, while Mr. President (Babangida) and his family were rushed to the hospital.
"May Ibrahim Babangida's soul find eternal rest with God, amen," he declared.
