During the Ministerial Sectoral Updates on its second day, a media briefing held to celebrate President Bola Tinubu's first year in office, Fagbemi differentiated between the cases of Kanu and Sowore.
Lateef Olasunkanmi Fagbemi, the Minister of Justice and Attorney-General of the Federation, SAN, has declared his unfamiliarity with Nnamdi Kanu, the incarcerated leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB.
During the Ministerial Sectoral Updates on its second day, a media briefing held to celebrate President Bola Tinubu's first year in office, Fagbemi differentiated between the cases of Kanu and Sowore.
While not addressing the situation of Sunday Igboho, the Yoruba Nation advocate recently released by the Federal Government, the AGF emphasized that Kanu's detention is in accordance with the rule of law.
In response to inquiries regarding the continued detention of Kanu by the Department of State Services, despite the release of figures like Omoyele Sowore and Sunday Igboho, the Minister stated, "The circumstances of Nnamdi Kanu and Sowore are distinct. I wouldn't recognize Sowore or Nnamdi Kanu if I encountered them.
Hence, Kanu's detention is governed by the rule of law and judicial proceedings.
"We should await the court's verdict. The country's laws will not permit unlawful detention."
