According to Dan-Mamman, the suspect, who resides in Minna's old Kwata area, was arrested at 3 a.m. on Wednesday, May 1, following a distress call about a robbery at the female hostel in Bosso, Minna. When the police patrol team arrived, the suspect fled and hid in the ceiling, where he was found and arrested.
The Niger State Police Command has apprehended a 19-year-old boy for allegedly robbing female students at the Federal University of Technology, Minna's Bosso quarters. Commissioner of Police Shawulu Dan-Mamman announced the arrest on Friday in Minna.
According to Dan-Mamman, the suspect, who resides in Minna's old Kwata area, was arrested at 3 a.m. on Wednesday, May 1, following a distress call about a robbery at the female hostel in Bosso, Minna. When the police patrol team arrived, the suspect fled and hid in the ceiling, where he was found and arrested.
The police recovered several items from the suspect, including:
- One sharp knife
- Seven mobile phones allegedly stolen from students
- Two power banks
- Two ear-pods
- A bag
Preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect is a notorious armed robber who had committed a similar crime at Bosso campus's second gate in February. The suspect is currently under investigation and will soon be transferred to SCID for further investigation and prosecution.
This arrest highlights the police's commitment to ensuring safety on university campuses and bringing criminals to justice.
