Suspect Reveals Motive for Killing Girlfriend in Sokoto Hotel |
The Sokoto State Police Command has apprehended Saifullah Hassan, a murder suspect from Gummi local government area in Zamfara State. Hassan confessed to killing his girlfriend in a Sokoto hotel.
In an interview with reporters, Hassan explained that he had been in a long-term relationship with the deceased. However, a minor disagreement escalated when she struck him on the head during their stay in a hotel room. In a fit of rage, he slaughtered her.
Despite his remorse, the Sokoto State Government took decisive action by shutting down the hotel where the tragic incident occurred. The Commissioner for Religious Affairs, Dr. Jabir Maihula, cited numerous complaints from residents about immoral activities taking place at the hotel as the reason for its closure.
Additionally, the Commissioner of Commerce, Dahiru Haruna, pointed out that the hotel was operating illegally since it was not registered by the state government.
The state Police Commissioner, Hayatu Kaigama, provided further details. On May 24, 2024, at approximately 6:20 am, Mr. John, the manager of Ifeoma Hotel Phase 1 in the Old Airport Area of Sokoto, reported that a woman named Balkisu Garba was killed in a hotel room by an unidentified guest. Police investigations led to the identification and subsequent arrest of Saifullah Hassan in Funtua, Katsina State.
