| Sanusi: Insights Shared with Fubara |
Alhaji Muhammadu Sanusi II, the 14th Emir of Kano, recently engaged in a conversation with Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State. During the ongoing Rivers Economic and Investment Summit in Port Harcourt, Sanusi, serving as the keynote speaker, emphasized the importance of human capital for economic development. He highlighted that many young people with first-class degrees remain unemployed due to a lack of essential skills.
Sanusi urged the need for robust education and skills training programs in Rivers State, aiming to equip youths for the future. While discussing with the governor, he acknowledged that numerous CVs from highly qualified individuals exist, yet their lack of relevant skills hinders their ability to secure formal employment in the current economy.
Commending the Fubara administration’s efforts to chart a new path for growth and prosperity, Sanusi emphasized that relying solely on natural resources, even in an oil-rich state, is insufficient. Purposeful leadership and strategic planning are essential to transform Rivers State’s fortunes.
This summit marks Sanusi’s first public appearance since news broke about his potential reinstatement to the throne. Notably, the Kano Assembly repealed the law that led to his dethronement by ex-Governor Abdullahi Ganduje in 20201.
