Timi Frank, the former Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has warned that the ongoing crisis in Rivers State could escalate and destabilize President Bola Tinubu’s government if not promptly addressed.

Frank expressed concern over Governor Nyesom Wike's push for the impeachment of Governor Siminalaya Fubara by defected members of the State House of Assembly, stating it could severely impact Tinubu's administration.

In a statement he forwarded to DAILY POST in Abuja on Friday, Frank urged President Tinubu to intervene with the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, to foster peace, accusing Wike of covertly trying to replace Fubara with another Ikwere individual.

He reminded President Tinubu of Fubara's legitimate election as governor by the populace, cautioning that any self-serving efforts to oust him could lead Rivers State into turmoil, adversely affecting the nation's revenue.

Frank accused Wike of orchestrating a campaign to unlawfully unseat Fubara, which he views as an affront to the Ijaw community in Rivers State.

Frank stated, "This is the first instance since 1999 that Rivers State has an Ijaw governor. All predecessors since then have completed two full terms. Therefore, Wike should respect Fubara's mandate to serve his term without interference."

Acknowledging that Wike played a significant role in Fubara's gubernatorial victory, Frank emphasized that this does not entitle Wike to exert undue influence over Fubara's governance responsibilities.

Representing the United Liberation Movement for West Papua (ULMWP) in East Africa and the Middle East, Frank concluded, "Fubara's election was not intended for the sole purpose.
