The Kogi State Police Command has verified the successful rescue of 14 Confluence University of Science and Technology, Osara students, who were kidnapped by unidentified assailants on Thursday, May 9, as they prepared for their first-semester exams on campus.
The rescue of the 14 students by a combined security force was confirmed to DAILY POST through a WhatsApp message from the Police Public Relations Officer, SP William Ovye Aya, on Sunday, following the abduction on Thursday.
The students have been hospitalized for medical care, and SP Aya emphasized the ongoing commitment of the police and other state security agencies to ensure the safety of individuals and property.
The state's Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Kingsley Fanwo, had previously released a statement regarding the students' liberation.
Fanwo praised the valiant actions of the security personnel who decisively engaged the kidnappers, overpowering them and prompting them to release the hostages.
