The Rivers State police have detained 13 individuals, comprising four soldiers and an officer from the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), on charges of armed robbery, food truck hijacking, and rerouting them to different destinations.
State police spokesperson, Grace Iringe-Koko, revealed these details in a Monday statement.
The detentions were the result of an extensive probe initiated by the initial apprehension of suspects for a burglary at a private storage facility in the Elimgbu community, Ohio/Akpor LGA.

The apprehended officers admitted to deserting their duties for illicit activities within Rivers State.
Iringe-Koko noted that further inquiry exposed a broader criminal network engaged in armed robbery, hijacking, and the redirection of goods.
The criminal groups were found to be intercepting trailers carrying diverse commodities, such as fertilizers, foreign apparel, and POP cement.
Authorities retrieved the pilfered goods and a white Toyota Hilux utilized by the criminals, she stated.
Additionally, she mentioned that the Nigerian Army had discharged the four implicated soldiers and turned them over to the police for legal proceedings.
